Aquatint is a very important etching process.  It is generally used to create tonal areas, although it is possible to create an entire image using only aquatint.  In this process, a dusting of finely grained resin is fused onto the plate by heat to create a grained pattern.  To learn more about the aquatint process, go to Ken's Corner for details.
